Did the eat-dessert-to-hang-out-longer thing again even though none of us actually wanted dessert after a filling Ramen Champion dinner. Walked over to Liang Seah Street for Ah Chew! Tom’s Palette will have to wait.
This place is pretty popular and even though it takes up 2 shop spaces, you probably have to wait awhile for seats. Managed to snag a 4 seater table by being relatively early and after the staff relocated a couple to make way for us yayy. Very oriental looking and one will be able to tell it sells Chinese/Hong Kong style desserts. Order and pay at the counter first and they will serve the sweets to you.
Mango Sago & Pomelo $4. This arrived even before my 2 friends were back from the cashier, efficient max. Cold mango goodness.
Warm Gingko, Barley & Beancurd Skin, $2.10 for small. Right level of sweetness, chewy gingkos and I love the beancurd skin bits. One of my favourite Chinese desserts, it’s available both hot or cold. My mum used to make this at home when I was young, and she will always cheat by adding almond soymilk to it haha but our family loved it. It’s the same logic as adding soyabean milk to tau huey what right!
