Cafe Iguana is a Mexican restaurant bar that has been at Clarke Quay Riverside since forever and is my go-to bar for Margaritas or late night happy hour. Judging by the turnovers of their neighbor, I’ll say they are doing very well at this location, can’t say about the closed outlet at Greenwood Avenue.
The decor is very casual, with high tables and the bar inside, seating outside and beside the river. It may get a little warm on some nights but it’s generally windy by the river. Quirky with colorful chairs and exotic tequila bottles on display. I’ve come to associate the picture of the guy hanging on the wall with the bar hahah.
House Kiwi Margarita Jar (frozen) $39++, 6-8pm and 11pm-Closing. Kiwi’s my favorite flavor, and I’ve tried lime, mango, soursop, strawberry, pink guava, blackberry and banana on previous occasions. Banana was a mistake if you ask me, and blackberry taste like Ribena but all others were all nicely mixed. They serve complimentary tortilla chips with salsa dip to every table though I had to ask for it and remind them a second time this visit, when service is usually automatic.
I’ve never got the chance to try the food menu for some Mexican food, maybe next time!
