The original Food for Thought outlet @ North Bridge Road have successfully moved to it’s new home in the lush Botanical Gardens at the end of 2011. Seeing as how they are already packed, this is a good move as they now occupy a huge space, much bigger and better than their narrow NBR outlet. Comes complete with outdoor grill/bar area and children’s playground!
You got to love the spaciousness of this outlet, and they have kept the style simple. Clean lines, white walls with pops of orange and almost assembled all kinds of seating available in this space, indoor, outdoor, big communal tables, high tables, long canteen tables. Very ideal for big groups!
Kitchen and Menu.
We shared a Classic Beef Burger, $8, and asked them to cut into halves. Added Fries and Bottled Drink for $5. The burger bun is their homemade Potato Bun and comes topped with caramelized onions. Before we can start on the burger, we were distracted by the piping hot fries that were so good, fluffy and crisp! Very satisfying carbs, we practically finished them before having the burger. The bun was soft and their thick juicy patty was still beautifully pink in the middle. You would think that a thin spread of kaffir lime mayo would not matter much, but it cuts through pretty refreshingly.
Didn’t have desserts this visit but did note that their prices look reasonable! Cupcakes $3, a slice of Marble Cake $2 and Bread & Butter Pudding $6.
Certainly a nice addition to Botanic Gardens. They are near the Tanglin Gate entrance so it’s easier if you go from orchard as the Botanic Gardens Circle Line station opens at the other end of the Gardens. The new venue seems to be getting a lot of event bookings so do check their Facebook, Twitter or call ahead to enquire but usually the outdoor section still remains open to public.
