London: Ben’s Cookies

Heard about Ben’s Cookies from a colleague and since I passed one on Oxford Street I got one to try!

Piles of freshly baked cookies which they sell by weight. Quite a few flavors, like Peanut Butter, Oatmeal RaisinWhite Chocolate Cranberry, Triple Chocolate Chunk, Coconut etc. Many people bought and ate them on the go but there are pretty gift tins available too.

Got a Milk Chocolate Orange to try, £1.40 for this piece if I am not wrong. It’s somewhat like a much better version of Subway cookies, with a crisp rim and soft chewy center. There’s candied orange peel squares and the citrus scent and taste was strong. Melty milk chocolate chunks went well with the orange, though I started getting a little sugar rush near the end I think. I won’t seek it out intentionally but this was not a bad recommendation!

EwF @ Orchard Central

EwF is the casual burger joint of Everything with Fries, from the same people behind Awfully Chocolate. Instead of a full menu like their outlets in Holland V and Joo Chiat, EwF feature affordable set meals priced at $9.90 that include a burger/sandwich with a side of their fries (5 flavors to chose from!) with a drink. Perfect for a night in town with friends on a budget, open to fast food, but still want a decent place to sit and chat. Not to mention nice fries!

Pepper Lunch

This is easily my first meal at Pepper Lunch in maybe 5 years? When Pepper Lunch first came to Singapore, it was very fun. Cooking your own meat, drowning everything in their famous garlic soy sauce and honey brown sauce, shaking the salads etc. Then the high prices and smelling like a teppanyaki chef part got old very quickly, at least for me.

Macs Horlicks McFlurry

Not very good to be doing another Macs post so soon after the Supreme post but I just wanted to put this up before Horlicks McFlurry is discontinued or something.

It’s been AGES since my last McFlurry, like 5 years or more. Armed with their 1 for 1 e-coupon ($2.70 for 1 originally), I shared the deal with a friend. It’s basically macs ice cream + Horlicks powder + crunchy malt bits that we can’t determine if it’s made from Horlicks. The malt bits were nice to bite into but you need to mix more yourself to get it to spread out. Got a little too sweet and tired of the taste after awhile and didn’t finish it. Do what my friend did and just finish up the malt bits!
